A look at our weekend: My husband has a four-day weekend, and I love when he’s home for a solid stretch. I try not to overload the honey-do list, but he is on deck to assemble our new guest room bed. I found a budget-friendly frame with great reviews—solid construction, though apparently quite the project to assemble. He’s been gently prepped.
The room’s nearly there: wide-plank white oak floors, light aqua walls, a beachy print ready to hang, and all-white linen bedding for that Malibu-minimalist vibe.
The current headboard slipcover is just a placeholder—I’m sourcing a richly textured soft white fabric, and a talented friend has offered to sew a custom cover. The inspo for this was the beautifully upholstered headboard at the Cara Hotel in LA, where we stayed during my cookbook photo shoot.
Our holiday fare is pretty simple—he’s picking up the first king salmon of the season from Costco, and I’ll be testing a “clean” ranch dressing recipe with lots of fresh herbs. I think it might become a new staple.
As we head into Memorial Day Weekend, I’m feeling grateful for extra daylight and bbq-scented breezes. Whether you’re cooking for a crowd or savoring some quiet time, I hope you're finding joy in the small, summery things.
